Overview

Motor Control Center inspection and test documentation has a structural challenge that most other field records don't face: the MCC is a lineup of individual units — starters, drives, feeders, and spares — each of which can have its own status, load description, and deficiency, while the lineup as a whole also has bus-level tests and overall inspection findings that apply across all units. This tool handles both layers. The Header tab captures job information and MCC nameplate data. The Standards tab sets the applicable basis: NETA ATS-2025 for acceptance work, NETA MTS-2023 for maintenance, NETA ECS-2024 for new electrical construction, or NFPA 70B-2023 and site-specific procedures. NFPA 70E-2024 and UL 845 are also referenced where applicable. The Checklist tab presents 12 default visual and mechanical inspection items — Overall Cleanliness, Cubicles/Compartments, Auxiliary Devices, Insulating Members/Barriers, Ground Connections/Bus, Bus Bar Connections, Stab Assemblies, Door Interlocks/Latches, Ventilation/Filters, Labels/Nameplates, Space Heaters, and Wiring/Terminations — each with Inspected, Condition, and Cleaned/Lubricated status columns. Checklist items can be dragged to reorder. The Buckets tab is the MCC-specific differentiator: add individual starter/feeder/drive units one at a time or in bulk via Add Multiple, assign each a load description, load number, and status (Used, Spare, Space, Unknown, or Deficient), then track them through the test. The Lineup View tab visualizes the full unit schedule with filterable views for Deficient-only or hiding spares and spaces, and supports adding lineup-level deficiencies separately from bucket-level findings. The Tests tab documents bus-level electrical test results: bus connection resistance (μΩ per phase), bus insulation resistance (MΩ), miscellaneous bus tests, and SCCR verification — alongside instrument calibration records (type, make/model, serial, calibration due). The Deficiencies tab tracks all findings with severity (Critical or Info), description, recommended correction, responsible party, due date, corrected date, retest notes, and Open/Closed status. The Summary tab captures overall test status and sign-off. Data saves to localStorage, exports and imports as JSON, and prints to PDF.

What you'll do

  • 01Complete the 12-item MCC visual and mechanical inspection checklist — from overall cleanliness through wiring and terminations — recording Inspected status, Condition, and Cleaned/Lubricated for each item
  • 02Build a complete MCC unit schedule by entering individual buckets with load descriptions, load numbers, and status (Used, Spare, Space, or Deficient) and use the Lineup View to identify untested or deficient units before closeout
  • 03Record bus-level electrical test results including bus connection resistance (μΩ per phase) and bus insulation resistance (MΩ), and document instrument calibration traceability for each test instrument
  • 04Apply the correct NETA standard basis — ATS-2025 for acceptance, MTS-2023 for maintenance, or ECS-2024 for new construction — and explain how acceptance criteria differ across these standards for MCC equipment
  • 05Document deficiencies at both the lineup level and the bucket level, assigning severity, recommended correction, responsible party, and due date to each finding
  • 06Export the completed record to JSON for archiving, import a prior record for update or continuation, and print a formatted report for client delivery
