What is Phase Academy?
Phase Academy is an interactive power systems lab: browser-based simulators, NEC and NETA calculators, and field-testing report builders for electrical engineers, technicians, and students. Every tool runs in the browser — no installs.
Are the calculators and simulators free to use?
Yes. All 51 labs and calculators are free to open and use. Creating a free account unlocks saving NETA field reports to your account, duplicating past reports, and tracking learning-path progress.
Can I use these calculators for real engineering work?
No. Every tool is for educational use only and is not a substitute for engineering analysis by a licensed professional. Verify all results against the applicable code edition (NEC, NETA ATS/MTS, IEEE) and have final designs sealed by a licensed PE in the jurisdiction of record.
Which NEC edition do the calculators reference?
Calculators implement the methodology and section numbers of the current NEC cycle. Because state and local adoption lags, always confirm the edition enforced in your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) before applying a result.
Do you reproduce NEC, NFPA 70E, or NETA tables?
No. Section numbers are cited and methodology is taught, but code tables are not reproduced verbatim. Results are computed from the input parameters implementing the applicable code section — you should still own the code book for the edition your AHJ enforces.
Who owns the field-test reports I save to my account?
You do. Report data — including client equipment nameplates, project information, and test results — belongs to you. Phase Academy does not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train ML models. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I copy a NETA report and reuse it on another project?
Yes. Every saved report has a Duplicate action from the /reports dashboard. Duplication is the intended workflow when nameplate data, procedures, or acceptance criteria repeat across projects — copy, then edit the fields that change.
What standards do the field-testing tools follow?
NETA report builders align with ATS-2025 (Acceptance) and MTS-2023 (Maintenance) sections and forms. Insulation-resistance, contact-resistance, ratio, and polarity checks reference the applicable IEEE guides (e.g., IEEE 43, C57.152, C37) where relevant.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Every simulator and calculator runs entirely in the browser using standard web technology. Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox are supported on desktop and tablet.
How do I request a new calculator or report the results look wrong?
Email contact@phaseacademy.io. Include the tool name, the inputs you used, the result you got, and the result you expected (with the code section or reference). Bug reports and feature requests are both welcome.
