Why Phase Academy exists

Most electrical calculators return a number and stop there. That is fine when you already know the method, and unhelpful when you are trying to learn it or verify it. Phase Academy exists to show the working: the inputs, the assumptions, the intermediate steps, the standard the method comes from, and the limits of the result.

What we do

We design small, focused, browser-based labs covering NEC calculations, protection coordination, arc flash, fault current, grounding and bonding, motors, transformers, power quality, PLCs, and NETA-aligned field testing. Each lab is designed to be opened, poked, and understood in a few minutes — not to be a black-box answer engine.

Design philosophy

• Show the method, not just the answer. Every result is traceable to inputs and a stated method.
• Cite, never copy. We do not reproduce code tables verbatim. Values are computed and cited to the applicable code or standard edition so you verify against your own copy.
• State the limits. Each lab lists its assumptions and what it does not model.
• Private by default. Your work stays on your device unless you explicitly sync it to your account.
• Usable by everyone. Keyboard operable, labelled controls, and readable contrast are requirements, not extras.

How labs are built and checked

Each lab is written against a named standard edition, checked against worked examples, given a version and a last-checked date, and published as a fixed release with an integrity checksum. Validation state and standards basis are shown on every lab. When a technical correction is made, it is recorded publicly.

Who it's for

Electrical and power systems engineers, electrical contractors, NETA technicians, commissioning professionals, industrial maintenance teams, electrical safety professionals, instructors, and learners. The same tool can serve a student building intuition and an engineer sanity-checking a value in the field.

What it isn't

Phase Academy is not affiliated with NFPA, IEEE, NETA, or any standards organization. Our tools do not replace the NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, NETA specifications, manufacturer instructions, AHJ requirements, or qualified engineering review. They support learning and preliminary work.
