Terms of Service

Last updated July 2, 2026 · See also the Privacy Policy.

EDUCATIONAL-USE DISCLAIMER

For educational purposes only. Not a substitute for engineering analysis by a licensed professional. Verify all results against the applicable code edition.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Phase Academy (phaseacademy.io), including all interactive calculators, simulators, field-test record builders, articles, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Nature of the Service

Phase Academy publishes browser-based simulators, calculators, and reference material for electrical engineering education, exam preparation, and field-technician training. All content is provided for learning and preliminary study only.

2. No engineering services; no professional relationship

Nothing on the Service constitutes engineering, design, inspection, testing, code-compliance, or professional advice, and no engineer–client relationship is created by use of the Service. Any design, installation, modification, energization, or field-testing of electrical equipment must be performed by a qualified person in accordance with the applicable code edition (NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NETA ATS/MTS, IEEE, manufacturer instructions, and any authority having jurisdiction) and, where required by law, stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer in the relevant jurisdiction.

3. Code editions and accuracy

Calculator inputs, ampacity tables, protective-device settings, and worked examples may reference specific code editions. Codes, standards, and manufacturer data change; results may not reflect the edition adopted in your jurisdiction or the specific equipment in front of you. Verify every result against the applicable code edition and the equipment nameplate and instructions before acting on it.

4. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these Terms, abuse, or unlawful use.

5. Your content and stored field reports

The Service lets you save learning progress and generate NETA-style field-test records, inspection checklists, and calculator outputs (“Your Content”). Your Content may include information about your projects and your clients’ equipment (nameplates, test values, locations, notes).

  • You own Your Content. Phase Academy claims no ownership of the report data, project information, or client-equipment data you enter or upload.
  • We do not sell it and we do not share it. Your stored reports are private to your account and are not sold, shared, disclosed to third parties, or used to train machine learning models, except (a) to operate the Service for you, (b) when you explicitly share a report using a share link you generate, or (c) as required by law.
  • Limited operating license. You grant Phase Academy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, back up, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you and users you explicitly share with. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, subject to routine backup retention.
  • Export and deletion. You may export or delete individual reports and your entire account at any time. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • Your responsibility. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to store client or third-party information on the Service and for complying with any confidentiality obligations you owe to your clients or employer. Do not upload data you are not permitted to store off-site.
  • Draft, not certified. Saved reports are drafts for your workflow — they are not certified test records, and Phase Academy does not review, approve, or stamp them.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) reverse engineer or attempt to extract source data other than through documented features; (b) upload unlawful, infringing, malicious, or harmful content; (c) use the Service to violate export control, sanctions, or privacy laws; (d) interfere with or overload the Service; (e) use the Service to make final engineering, safety, or code-compliance determinations without independent professional review; (f) resell or white-label the Service without written permission.

7. Intellectual property

The Service — including software, UI, articles, images, branding, and the arrangement and selection of reference material — is owned by Phase Academy and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Section-number references to codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA ATS/MTS, IEEE) are used for educational citation only; Phase Academy is not affiliated with or endorsed by NFPA, IEEE, NETA, UL, or any manufacturer, and all such trademarks belong to their respective owners.

8. No warranty

The Service and all tools are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Phase Academy, its authors, and contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service or reliance on any output — including personal injury, property damage, equipment failure, arc-flash incident, code violation, project delay, loss of data, or economic loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of USD $100 or the amount you paid Phase Academy in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Phase Academy from any claim arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Safety

Never energize, test, or work on electrical equipment on the basis of results from the Service alone. Follow NFPA 70E, your employer’s electrical safety program, lockout/tagout procedures, and use appropriate PPE. If in doubt, stop and consult a qualified engineer.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) survive.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, by in-product notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of the principal place of business of Phase Academy, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Venue for any dispute lies in the state or federal courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
