Busway / Bus Duct Insulation & Connection Test Report
A NETA-compliant field test record for busway and bus duct acceptance and maintenance testing — capturing insulation resistance (MΩ) and connection resistance (μΩ) per section, wire configuration-aware IR test matrices, a visual bus map with section status tracking, and print-to-PDF output.
Overview
Busway and bus duct testing requires two distinct measurement types documented per section across the full run: insulation resistance (MΩ) to verify phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground insulation integrity, and connection resistance (μΩ) at each bus plug, splice, or joint to verify low-resistance bonding. For a long run with dozens of sections this becomes a significant documentation burden — and errors in the test matrix (wrong configuration, missing readings, unresolved investigate flags) create audit exposure. This tool generates the complete record in a structured tabbed workflow. The Report tab captures project header information — customer, site, equipment ID, job number, date, tested by, reviewed by, and report basis (Acceptance or Maintenance). The Nameplate & Setup tab records the voltage class, IR test voltage (VDC), total run length, test duration, ambient temperature, equipment temperature, humidity, and calibration instrument references. The Safety tab documents LOTO status and absence-of-voltage verification. The Test Sections tab is the heart of the record: add a section for each bus plug, feeder tap, or joint location, and the app renders the correct IR test matrix for the selected wire configuration — 3-Wire (3φ, phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground), 4-Wire (3φ + neutral), or 5-Wire (integral ground, 3φ + N + EGC). Each section captures MΩ readings with computed pass/fail against the selected standard basis (OEM, NETA ATS, NETA MTS, or custom), a manual override with required reason, and per-phase μΩ connection readings for each bus connection or bus plug. Sections can be added, duplicated, reordered, or removed — essential for long runs with repeating section types. The Bus Map tab provides a visual linear map of all sections color-coded by status (Tested/Pass, Deficient, Investigate, Outstanding, Not Tested) with an Outstanding Section Tracker to ensure no locations are skipped before closeout. The Summary tab shows overall test status, test statistics, validation advisories, result breakdown, and the investigate list. Overall status supports a computed result with manual override. Record saves to browser localStorage, exports and imports as JSON, and prints to PDF. Aligns with ANSI/NETA ATS-2025 and ANSI/NETA MTS-2023 requirements for busway testing.

What you'll do
- 01Document a complete busway insulation resistance and connection resistance test record from project header through dual-signature review
- 02Select the correct IR test matrix configuration for 3-Wire, 4-Wire, and 5-Wire busway and record all required phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground readings
- 03Apply the NETA ATS or MTS minimum insulation resistance acceptance criteria and identify readings that require investigation or constitute a deficiency
- 04Record per-phase connection resistance (μΩ) at each bus plug, splice, and feeder tap and identify values that fall outside acceptable limits
- 05Use the Bus Map visual tracker to confirm all sections are tested before closeout, and resolve Outstanding flags before generating the final report
- 06Apply a manual overall status override with a documented reason when computed status does not reflect field conditions, and generate a print-ready PDF report
