Overview
Motor insulation resistance testing is one of the most common NETA maintenance measurements — but properly documenting it requires capturing the 1-minute spot reading, the 30-second and 1-minute readings for DAR calculation, and the 1-minute and 10-minute readings for Polarization Index, all corrected to a 40°C reference temperature using the IEEE 43 Kt factor. This record handles the complete test suite. The evaluation mode is selectable: Worksheet (custom or manual thresholds), NETA ATS (motor acceptance), NETA MTS (motor maintenance), or IEEE 43-2013 reference. Winding category determines the minimum IR basis per IEEE 43-2013: post-1970 form-wound AC/DC armature windings (minimum 100 MΩ at 40°C), random-wound stator or form-wound below 1 kV (minimum 5 MΩ), or custom. PI and DAR threshold values are user-configurable. Full motor nameplate documentation covers manufacturer, serial number, frame, type, horsepower, kW rating, voltage, phase, frequency, full-load current, locked-rotor current, service factor, power factor, temperature rise, insulation class, NEMA design, shaft diameter, weight, thermal protection status, connected equipment, and listing. Temperature correction applies the Kt factor (automatic from IEEE 43 lookup or manual override) to correct measured MΩ to 40°C reference. Range multiplier selection handles instruments that output in kΩ, MΩ, or GΩ. Pre-test verification items confirm guard terminal usage, discharge time completion, and test lead condition. Audible interval prompts are available to cue the technician at the 30-second, 1-minute, and 10-minute marks during timed testing. The record closes with comments and observations, deficiencies noted, test conclusion and recommendation, and dual technician and reviewer signature blocks with dates. Status tracking: In Progress, Complete-Pass, Complete-Fail, Incomplete. Data saves to localStorage, exports and imports as JSON, and prints to PDF.
